I just auditioned for The Voice

I am writing this literally right after auditioning and driving home.
There were so many people there. So many other dreamers, going after a perfect opportunity to see their dreams materialize. I had a conversation with a man in the line to go in. I told him I was so happy to be there. I told him that usually, on a daily basis, you can find yourself feeling so alone with your dream. You can feel like you are the only one who is thinking and behaving like this. This audition was such a blessing to me because when I walked in to the Los Angeles Convention Center, I saw 100s of reflections of my ambition. I saw so many other people putting caution to the wind and trying it rather than watching life go by. So many of these amazing people were not chosen today.
Including me.
But there is an amazing silver lining. Everyone that actually made it to the building. Everyone that actually made it to the room. Everyone who still sung acapella for those 45 seconds. Everyone of these people already won the battle within themselves. That is the biggest battle to encounter on this day. All the moments prior that come into your head. All the ways that everything could go horribly wrong playing out in your minds eye and still having the confidence to trust yourself to perform. I applaud everyone who auditioned today and I applaud myself for getting to this point of growth as an artist.
The funniest thing is, this time last year, I did not consider myself the artist I consider myself today. I respect myself so much as an artist. So much so, that when I wasn’t chosen, I was kind of confused and hoped the judges ears improved further in the competition.
I’m serious
He should get that checked out.
All jokes aside. This is one of those moments where you find yourself tipping your hat to the caliber of being you apparently are. When your actions are so admirable, even you are pleased with your behavior. I challenge myself and who ever is reading this to continue to strive. Strive for whatever it is that makes you happy. Do it with freedom in your heart. Let go of your idea of yourself and allow yourself to be whoever you want to be right now.
Love to you always.
